PARALLEL SEA
Reversed sea is a collaborative art project created with Wu Jinze in memory of our non-human co-habitators threatened in the hundreds of years of urbanization in Shichahai area. 9 images remarking the unique visions of 9 creatures once existed in reality or myth on this territory, accompanied by related objects, riddles, and soundtracks available through QR code scanning were placed in 9 repurposed box-shaped furniture in the Shichahai urban exploration centre, collectively making a participatory game inviting visitors to explore various perspectives of Shichahai. By lightening a torch and peeking inside the black boxes, spectators are endowed with the eyes of these creatures to experience their alternative living environments overlapping with an anthropocentric Shichahai; by uncovering and identifying their names and habits, we step back to reflect and commit a shared future of multispecies urbanism.
